About Trash Services

Trash services are provided by Bates Trucking as contracted through the Dranesville Estates HOA Board with fees covered for each homeowner through annual homeowner dues. Trash services included with the contract include trash, recycling, seasonal yard waste, and bulk pickup. 

Trash: Mondays and Thursdays, Weekly

Recycling: Fridays, Weekly

Yard Waste: Wednesday, Weekly from March/April to December 24

                    *After Dec 24th, yard waste will be picked up on the regular trash days.

Bates coordinates recycling through Fairfax County and is therefore subject to Fairfax Country restrictions and requirements, including:

• Recycling must be placed in curbside bin, provided by Bates Trucking.
• Recycling must be unbagged.
• Recycling includes paper/cardboard, plastic, cans only. 
• Do NOT include glass or plastic bags

Bates coordinates yard waste through Fairfax County and is therefore subject to Fairfax County restrictions and requirements, including:

• Seasonal pickup, March 1 through December 24
• Yard waste must be placed in compostable paper bags or rigid containers; it may NOT be placed in plastic bags of any type.
• Yard waste includes: organic waste generated by yard and lawn care including leaves, grass trimmings, shrub and tree trimmings.
• The following is NOT included: soil, mulch, sod, stumps, whole trees, large branches or limbs, or storm damage cleanup.

Bates includes Bulk Item pickup with the Dranesville Estates HOA contract.

Bulk item pickup must be scheduled as-needed by individuals. Requests should be made prior to noon the day before collection. 

Acceptable large bulk items up to 50 pounds/3 pieces include: 

• Mattresses or box springs (covered in plastic) 
• Stoves/refrigerators/deep freezers/washers/dryers 
• Sofas/love seats/recliners/dining table/chairs/desks 
• Cabinets 
• Commodes/toilets
• Grills
• Ladders
• Push lawn-mowers
• Outdoor furniture

Acceptable small bulk items:

• Microwaves/mini-refrigerators
• Lamps/fans
• Single Chairs
• Broken Trash Cans
• Children's yard toys
• Bikes
• Gardening Tools

Items not accepted for bulk pickup include: construction material, deck or fence material, plywood, concrete, metal pipes, electronics, flammable products, oil, paint cans (unless fully dried out), tires, animal carcasses, manure, tree stumps, dirt, stone, rock, bricks, lead, acid/wet cell batteries, railroad ties, toxic materials, bio-hazardous materials or waste, propane/oxygen/helium tanks, items containing gas/oil, explosives, live ammunition, weapons, large amounts of animal waste, oversized brush (longer than 4 feet in length or 6 inches in diameter), items over 50 pounds or items that cannot be safely loaded by the Bates Trucking crewmembers.
